Text and files you provide
TermsHuman analyzes legal text that you paste or load from a local .txt or .md file. Selecting a file only copies its contents into the text field in your browser. The file is not uploaded when selected; its text is sent only if you choose Analyze.
Do not submit trade secrets, client-confidential material, financial or medical data, government identifiers, or highly sensitive personal information.
Analysis processing
When you choose Analyze, the text is sent to the TermsHuman server to generate a plain-language summary, risk score, red flags, and key commitments. If the AI service is configured, the server sends that text to Anthropic's API. If it is unavailable or the daily limit is reached, TermsHuman may use a server-side heuristic instead.
The site does not require an account. Analysis output is informational and is not legal advice.
Storage and retention
TermsHuman application code does not write your submitted contract text to an application database, to an analytics event, or to a lead record. The contract text is used to produce the current response and is not stored by this application afterwards.
Two derived values do leave the page, and neither one contains your text: a numeric risk score (1–10) and the character length of what you pasted are sent to our analytics, and they are included in the lead record if you request a checklist. An earlier version of this page said no analysis output was sent anywhere, which contradicted the “Checklist requests” section below; this paragraph is the accurate description.
Hosting, network, analytics, and AI providers may process and retain technical request or log data under their own policies and account settings. TermsHuman does not promise zero provider retention. Remove sensitive details before submitting text.
Checklist requests
If you request a human-ready checklist, the lead record contains the name, email, optional company, page, risk band, risk score, output language, and input length shown in the form context. It does not include the contract text.
Local browser storage
Your English or Spanish output preference uses localStorage in your browser. This preference stays on your device and can be cleared through your browser settings. Contract text is not placed in localStorage by the analyzer.
Analytics and ads
The site may use analytics and advertising services to understand traffic, improve the experience, and support the free tool. These providers may process technical information according to their own policies.
